Background

The FLARE Windshield was developed at Klock Werks out of a desire/need for stability at highway speeds and for racing on the Bonneville Salt Flats. The most important effect is added down force as verified by testing in the A2 Wind Tunnel in Mooresville, N.C. The results found that with a stock, short windshield there was 30-35 lbs of measurable lift at highway speeds, meaning your bike is a KITE. The FLARE adds 10-15 lbs of down force on the front of the bike at the same speeds. Down force is the biggest advantage of the FLARE, no competitor piece offers this level of performance!

Design

Stock shields allow the air to dive down behind the shield and boil around in a choppy, turbulent effect. The FLARE kicks the air out to the sides and up, allowing the wind to come back at the rider in a much cleaner fashion. The "hips" at the outer edge of the shield re-route the wind to add down force to the front of the bike, which aids stability vs. using a stock shield. RESULT: your riding glasses won't want to bounce or lift off your face, and the front of your bike stays planted to the ground.

Sizing, Tints and Fitment

The 6.5" FLARE Windshield from Klock Werks is a direct replacement for your 1986 and newer FLHT, FLHTC, FLHX and the 3.5" and 10.5" FLARE Windshields are a direct replacement for your 1996 and newer FLHT, FLHTC, and FLHX. Fits all Dead Center Fairing models.

Custom-molded from premium quality, hard-coated polycarbonate to provide unmatched durability, and pre-drilled for easy mounting using stock windshield hardware. Options available are 3.5" Clear, 3.5" Tint, 3.5" Dark Smoke, 3.5" Black, 6.5" Tint, 6.5" Dark Smoke, 6.5" Black, 10.5" Clear and 10.5" Tint.

A word about coloring....the TINT is about a 30-35% tint (light), clear is of course clear, DARK SMOKE appears black like a stock street glide windshield, but you can see through it in the day time, and BLACK is opaque.

NOTE: Harley Davidson radar detectors and GPS systems that are mounted in the recommended fairing mount position will not fit with the Flare Windshield at this time. See FAQs and Info for more fitment details regarding windshield bags etc.

NOTE: The Flare Windshields are measured from the center bolt hole to the start of the lip on the top of the windshield.
